Efffects of Different Fattening Period on Growth Performance and Meat Quality of Songpan Tibetan Pigs
To explore the effects of different fattening period on the growth performance and meat quality of Songpan Tibetan pigs.Methods:24 Songpan Tibetan pigs of the same weight at the age of 3 months were randomly divided into experimental group and control group. The growth performance and meat quality were measured. Results:the full-term daily gain of the test group was 7.20%lower than that of the control group(P<0.05).The full-term feed weight ratio was 42.13%lower than that in the control group(P<0.01).The slaughter rate, fat thickness and eye muscle area of the control group were 8.26%(P<0.05),29.43%(P<0.01)and 7.58%(P>0.05)higher than those of the test group, respectively. The water content, crude ash and crude protein of the test group were higher than those of the control group by 1.97%(P>0.05),4.32(P>0.05)and 9.54%(P<0.05),and the intramuscular fat of the test group was lower than that of the control group by 13.28%(P<0.05).Conclusion:Songpan Tibetan pigs can achieve better growth efficiency and meat quality by fattening and slaughtering for about 360 days(15 months)according to the traditional"grazing + semi house feeding"fattening method.
