Research Progress on the Application of Chinese Herbal Additives in Beef Cattle Production
Chinese herbal medicine is rich in nutrients,and adding Chinese herbal preparations to the diet can improve the growth performance of animals.With the continuous development of large-scale livestock and poultry farming,the long-term and non-standard use of antibiotics in actual production will significantly reduce the disease resistance of animals,and the residual amount of drugs in livestock products will also increase,not only endangering human health,but also damaging the ecological environment.Therefore,in the current livestock and poultry breeding industry,developing reasonable alternative feed additives to antibiotics has become a research hotspot for many scholars.Compared with antibiotics,Chinese herbal medicine has the characteristics of no resistance,no residue,and low cost,which can replace the use of antibiotics.This article reviews the functions of Chinese herbal medicine and its application in beef cattle growth,rumen fermentation,and immune function,in order to provide reference for the research and application of Chinese herbal additive in beef cattle production.
