Research Progress on the Breeding of Xinjiang Brown Cattle(Meat Type)with Angus Cattle as the Target
In order to study the breeding progress of Xinjiang brown cattle(meat type)in terms of growth and development,meat quality and stress resistance with Angus cattle as the target.Xinjiang brown cattle(meat type)and Angus cattle steers at the same age were taken as the research objects,and analyzed the differences by comparing the body size index,carcass performance,meat quality analysis index and texture parameters.The results showed that there were significant differences in body weight,hip height and body length between Xinjiang brown cattle(meat type)steers and Angus cattle steers at the age of 30~36 months(P<0.05),there were extremely significant differences in circumference of cannon bone index(P<0.01),the backfat thickness of Xinjiang brown cattle(meat type)was significantly lower than that of Angus cattle(P<0.01),the slaughter rate and ribeye area were significantly higher than those of Angus cattle(P<0.05),and there was no significant difference in the texture parameters of the two breeds(P>0.05),indicating that there was little difference in the palatability of beef between Xinjiang brown cattle(meat type)and Angus cattle steers.The results showed that the breeding of Xinjiang brown cattle(meat type)with Angus cattle as the target was effective.
