Investigation of Intestinal Parasite Infection in Cats in Alar,Xinjiang
Objective:In order to understand the intestinal parasite infection of cats in Alar City,Xinjiang.Methods:The trial collected 68 samples of feces from natural defecation of cats in Alar City,Xinjiang.And the owner was asked about the cat's information(such as age,weight,vaccination,and deinfestation)and then recorded in detail.Direct smear method,saturated salt solution flotation method and saturated sucrose solution flotation method were used to detect the eggs and oocysts in feces.The eggs and oocysts were examined by direct smear method,saturated saline flotation method and saturated sucrose solution flotation method.Results:There were 42 negative and 26 positive samples of intestinal parasite infection in cats.There were 3 kinds of intestinal parasites:Toxocara cati,Toxascaris leonina and Isospora felis,the infection rates were 22.06％,10.30％and 5.88％respectively.Conclusion:Therefore,there are intestinal parasite infections in the cats in Alar City,Xinjiang,and the infection is more serious.The main species of infection is Toxocara cati.
