Akabane disease is an infectious disease caused by the Akabane virus,which causes reproductive disorders in cattle and sheep,as well as deformities in newborn young animals.This disease is prevalent in many countries in temperate and tropical regions such as Africa,the Middle East,Southeast Asia,Asia,and South America,and is prevalent in some regions of China.The Akabane virus enters the host's body through vector insects such as mosquitoes and midges,causing phenomena such as miscarriage,premature birth,stillbirth,and malformed fetuses in female animals,causing huge economic losses to the cattle and sheep breeding industry.This article reviews the characteristics,epidemiology,pathogenesis,diagnostic methods,and prevention and control of the virus,aiming to provide reference for effective prevention and control of this disease in China.
