Effects of the Use of Grain and Slag Compound Feed on the Growth and Development of Weaned Calves
To investigate the effects of feeding the low-cost slag compound feed on the growth performance of weaned calves,and actively explore effective ways to reduce cost and increase efficiency in the process of beef cattle feeding.Methods:The experiment was conducted in the second farm of Wuwei Dingle Animal Husbandry Co.,Ltd.,Wuwei City,Gansu Province.40 calves over 60 days old were selected as the test cattle,and the age error of the calves was 10 days old.The experiment was divided into two groups,the control group and the experimental group,with 20 cows in each group.The pre-test period was 15 days.During this period,the body weight,body height,chest circumference,body Angle length and abdominal circumference of calves were measured uniformly at the beginning of the test period,and the immunization against foot-and-mouth disease was carried out,and the preparatory work of the trial period was completed,such as feed transition and registration of the tested cattle.The trial period is 60 days.Results:Feed intake,daily gain and feed utilization rate of calves increased by 13.3%,0.18 kg and 0.37 percentage points respectively,which played a positive role in promoting the growth and development of calves.
