Application Effect of Modified Gongying Powder Compound in Acute Toxicity Test of Mice
The safety of the traditional Chinese medicine compound modified gongying powder for the treatment of dairy cow breast edema was evaluated by acute toxicity test in mice. The Gongying powder was prepared into a water decoction equivalent to 1.0 g/mL of the original medicinal material.40 mice were randomly divided into high-dose group,medium-dose group,low-dose group and control group. The mice were given 40 g/kg,20 g/kg and 10 g/kg body weight by intragastric administration. The control group was given an equal volume of normal saline. After continuous observation for 7 days, the number of deaths was recorded and the median lethal dose(LD50)was calculated.Another 20 mice were randomly divided into two groups. The experimental group was intragastrically administered with the maximum concentration(40 g/kg)and the maximum intragastric volume(40 mL/kg),and the control group was intragastrically administered with the same volume of normal saline. After administration, the clinical manifestations, body weight changes and death of the mice were observed for 7 days. The results showed that there was no death in each dose of mice in the acute toxicity test,no obvious toxic reaction, and the LD50 could not be calculated, which was judged to be non-toxic.There was no significant difference in body weight change and organ coefficient between the mice and the control group(P>0.05).
