Development and Application of a Compound Health Product without Antibiotics for Chickens during the Birth Period
To develop a compound health product without antibacterial drugs for chickens during the birth period,60 1-day-old chickens were randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group, with 30 in each group.During the 2~5 day old period, the experimental group was provided with water containing compound health product composed of allicin, astragalus polysaccharides, multiple vitamins, and Bacillus subtilis and the control group was provided with water containing astragalus polysaccharides, multiple vitamins and enrofloxacin for health care. The growth performance, viscera body ratio(heart, liver, spleen and bursa of fabricius),the number of some bacteria(Escherichia coli, lactobacillus and bifidobacteria)in the cecum at the age of 15 days, and the morphological changes of fecal flora at the age of 2,6,10,and 15 days were measured in the two groups of chickens. The results showed that compared with antibacterial health care group,non-antibiotic composite health care drugs did not significantly affect the growth performance(P>0.05)and organ to body ratio(P>0.05)of chickens, but improved the composition of fecal microbiota and the number of bifidobacteria in the cecum(P<0.05).This indicates that the non-antibiotic compound health products developed in this study can replace antibacterial drugs for the health care of chicks during their birth period.
