Analysis of Differences in Body Size of Weaned Foals from Different Hybrid Offspring of Yili Horses
This study aimed to compare the body measurements and indices of hybrid offspring of Yili horses after weaning.A total of 396 six-month-old hybrid offspring from the Zhaosu Horse Farm were selected for measurement and analysis. The results showed significant differences in body measurements among different hybrid offspring groups. The height of the Dutch Warmblood hybrid offspring was 4.2% higher than that of the American Trotter offspring(P<0.05).The length of the Ardennes hybrid offspring was 5.52% and 5.67% longer than that of the French Trotter and American Trotter offspring,respectively(P<0.05).The chest circumference was significantly higher in all hybrid offspring groups, except for the Dutch Warmblood hybrid offspring(P<0.05).The cannon circumference was also significantly higher in all hybrid offspring groups(P<0.05).These findings indicate that the introduction of hybridization has shown positive effects in improving the body measurements and indices of Yili horses.
