As a new type of roughage with wide source of raw materials,lower cost and convenient storage and transportation,fermented feed can be used as a substitute for antibiotics in animal production.In addition to the advantages of green safety,maintaining intestinal balance,promoting body growth and reducing feeding costs,it can also improve the growth performance of cattle and sheep,regulate rumen fermentation,increase milk production and improve milk quality.It can also meet the current shortage of feed resources in cattle and sheep breeding.Therefore,this paper reviews the advantages of fermented feed,the commonly used strains of fermented feed,the fermentation process and the effects of fermented feed on the growth performance,rumen fermentation and milk quality of cattle and sheep in recent years,in order to provide reference for the further application of fermented feed in cattle and sheep.
