Pigeon chlamydiosis is caused by Chlamydia psittaci,also known as ornithosis.The main clinical symptoms include severe conjunctivitis,rhinitis,stomatitis,difficulty breathing,and diarrhea.Mild cases may affect the pigeon's flight and health,while severe cases can lead to death.It is also a zoonotic disease that can be transmitted to humans.In recent years,there have been increasing reports of pigeon chlamydial infections in public places worldwide,posing a potential threat to human health.Preventing the infection and epidemic of pigeon Chlamydia psittaci and blocking its transmission to humans is crucial.This article introduces the pathogen,transmission,necropsy changes,diagnostic methods,and preventive measures of pigeon chlamydia,providing new insights into pigeon chlamydiosis and highlighting the necessity of higher requirements for public health.
