The Biological Functions of Chlorogenic Acid and Its Regulating the Health Growth of Livestock and Poultry
Chlorogenic acid an ester of caffeic acid and quinic acid, which is a phenylpropylene compound produced by plants during aerobic respiration is widely present in the roots, stems, leaves and fruits of a variety of plants.Chlorogenic acids showed better efficacy in regulating glycolipid metabolism, liver protection,antitumor,anti-inflammatory,antimicrobial and so on.In recent years, studies have found that chlorogenic acid has a positive impact on improving the growth performance and the intestinal health of livestock and poultry. In this paper, the biological functions of chlorogenic acid and its regulating effect on growth performance and intestinal health of livestock and poultry are reviewed. The application prospect of chlorogenic acid as a new feed additive is prospected, hoping to provide a theoretical reference for the further research.
