Chemical Composition,Pharmacological Action and Application Progress of Common Plant Essential Oils in Poultry Production
Plant essential oils mainly exist in the leaves,stems,flowers,fruits,bark and roots of plants,and most of the plant essential oils have 2～3 main components,accounting for 20%～70%of the total content.Mainly composed of terpenes,terpenes and phenylpropanes,these compounds are usually synthesized in the cytoplasm through malonic acid,mevalonate,erythrosis-4-phosphate and other pathways.As a kind of natural products,plant essential oil plays a very important role in drug clinical research,and is expected to become a natural medicine that can alleviate the global drug resistance crisis,and has a wide prospect of development and utilization.In this paper,the chemical composition,pharmacological action and application of 10 kinds of plant essential oils in livestock and poultry production were reviewed,and the value of their research and development in antimicrobial agents for animals and new feed additives was discussed.
