Diagnosis and Treatment of a Case of Chicken Embryo and Chick Death Caused by Proteus Mirabilis
Chicken proteus mirabilis disease is an acute bacterial infectious disease caused by Proteus mirabilis. It caused embryonic death, yolk infection, chick death, and poor growth and development in chickens. This study conducted clinical examinations, pathological dissection and bacterial isolation and identification in the laboratory on dead embryos and weak chicks submitted for testing at an incubator. The isolated bacteria underwent drug sensitivity testing. The results showed that a total of 20 samples were isolated,of which 9 samples were positive. The detection rate of samples was 45%.The isolated bacteria are sensitive to neomycin, more sensitive to doxycycline, and developed resistance to various other antibiotics. The results indicated that the main cause of chicken embryo and chick death is caused by the infection of Proteus mirabilis in chickens. This provided new ideas for poultry farmers in disease prevention and control.
