Discussion on the Development Direction of Breeding and Improvement of Xinjiang Charolais Beef Cattle
As one of the major producers of beef cattle,Xinjiang has always been among the best in stock and meat production.Charolai beef cattle are favored by farmers and consumers because of their fast growth rate,bright red meat color and excellent meat quality.However,due to the serious degradation of performance and traits,poor breed purity and small core population size,the breed promotion and development were seriously restricted,and the development speed and economic benefits of breeding and improvement of Charolais beef cattle in Xinjiang were reduced.This paper summarized and analyzed the current situation,discussed the existing problems and predicted the future development direction of beef cattle breeding improvement in Xinjiang,so as to provide theoretical reference for promoting the genetic improvement of beef cattle breeding in this area and promote the speed of breeding improvement.
