Investigation and Analysis of the Current Situation of Bactrian Camel Breeding around Altay City,Xinjiang
With the rapid development of camel industry in Altay,the author conducted a survey on the current situation of Bactrian camel breeding in the surrounding area of Altay using questionnaire surveys and on-site investigations.This study provides a detailed statistical analysis of the breeding scale,feeding methods,diet composition,epidemic prevention measures,and causes of death of Bactrian camels.The survey results show that in the Bactrian camel breeding area in the surrounding of Altay,the breeding of Bactrian camels coexists with large-scale breeding and family breeding.The breeding method is mainly grazing and supplementary feeding,accounting for 43%;the composition of the diet is mainly composed of self-formulated feed;the epidemic prevention measures mainly include injecting foot-and-mouth disease vaccines,using deworming drugs,and disinfecting the breeding environment.This study proposes development ideas and strategies based on the current situation of the breeding and management of Bactrian camels,in order to provide reference for the development of characteristic industries in Altay region.
