The Effects of Different Silage Feed on Feed Intake,Production Performance, and Related Biochemical Indicators of Beef Cattle
In order to investigate the effects of different silage feed on feed intake, production performance, and related biochemical indicators of beef cattle,60 healthy,disease-free,and similar weight Holstein beef cattle were selected and randomly divided into 4 groups. The control group was only fed with basic diet, while the experimental groups ①,②,③ were supplemented with whole plant corn silage, corn straw silage, and silage alfalfa, respectively. The experiment lasted for 60 days. The results showed that the average feed intake of each group of beef cattle was higher than that of the control group at 2,4,6,and 8 during the experimental period(P>0.05);Compared with the control group, the total weight gain and average daily weight gain of beef cattle in experimental groups①,②,③ were significantly increased(P<0.05),while the feed to meat ratio was significantly reduced(P<0.05);The blood glucose content in the serum of beef cattle in groups ①,②,③ was significantly reduced(P<0.05),while there was no significant difference in other serum biochemical indicators(P>0.05).Feeding silage feed can improve the feed intake and production performance of beef cattle, reduce feed to weight ratio, improve serum biochemical indicators. The combination of adding silage alfalfa to beef cattle diet has the best feeding efficiency.
