The Effect of Feed Rapeseed on the Growth Performance,Meat Quality, and Economic Benefits of Fattening Sheep
To explore the effects of oilseed rape on the growth performance, meat quality, and economic benefits of fattening sheep. The 120 fattening Hu sheep were selected as the research subjects and randomly divided into two groups. Each group underwent 10 replicate experiments, with 6 sheep included in each replicate. The control group was fed with a basic diet of traditional grass, while the experimental group was fed with rapeseed instead of traditional grass(peanut seedlings)in the basic diet. The experimental period is 50 days. The final weight and average daily weight gain of the fattening sheep in the experimental group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05),while the feed to gain ratio was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).The pre slaughter live weight and carcass weight of fattening sheep in the experimental group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05),while the shear force, steaming loss rate, water loss rate,b* and other indicators of lamb meat were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).The net increase in breeding income of the experimental group of fattening sheep fed with rapeseed was significantly greater than that of the control group of fattening sheep(P<0.05).Adding rapeseed as feed to the basic diet for fattening Hu sheep can significantly improve its growth performance, improve meat quality, and promote economic benefits.
