摘要
21世纪以来,英语世界的西安历史文化研究较为关注以下四类议题:(一)古代城市形态及其内涵特征;(二)当代遗产保护与意义挖掘;(三)大众文化与基层生活;(四)宗教传统与当代特征.新一代研究者既沿用经典的文献研究与质性分析探讨西安历史文化,也开始越来越多地运用社会科学研究的口述史、田野调查、深度访谈、数理统计等实证方法,通过可检验、可重复、可控制的结构性问题,着力拓展西安历史文化的现实认知空间.作为一个综合性的研究领域,英语世界的西安历史文化研究为国际学术界、知识界理解中国历史传统与社会现实的相互交织提供了重要个案,但在论证逻辑、概念运用、材料基础等方面又存在若干具有共性的典型问题.国内学界在引入、借鉴和参考其成果时应以严谨求真的学术态度具体分析,通过开放坦诚的批评对话探索中外学术交流机制.
Abstract
In the 21st century,English-speaking scholars have shown a strong interest in exploring four areas of Xi'an's history and culture:(1)The structure and es-sence of Ancient Xi'an;(2)Heritage preservation and its significance in the modern era;(3)Popular culture and the everyday lives of ordinary people;and(4)Religious traditions and their contemporary features.A new generation of researchers has moved beyond textual analysis and qualitative research,now em-bracing empirical methods derived from the social sciences.These methods in-clude oral history,field surveys,in-depth interviews,and statistical analysis.This evolution equips them to engage in academic inquiries that are verifiable,replicable,and well-structured,thus enriching our understanding of the historical and cultural dimensions of Xi'an.However,this field continues to grapple with common challenges,including issues related to theoretical frameworks,essential concepts,and primary sources.In response,Chinese researchers should actively participate in critical dialogues to enhance their understanding of the research findings from their international counterparts.This will not only foster academic exchange but also facilitate a deeper exploration of Xi'an's history and culture.
