Study on the occurrence and control of thrips in Guanxi pomelo in southern Fujian
The occurrence of thrips in Guanxi pomelo orchards in southern Fujian was investigated, and chemical control experiments were conducted. The results showed that four species of thrips, including Thrips hawaiiensis(Morgan),Scirtothrips dorsalis(Hood),Haplothrips aculeatus(Fabrieicus),and Frankliniella occidentalis(Pergande),were found on Guanxi pomelo in southern Fujian.Thrips hawaiiensis(Morgan)was the dominant population, accounting for 96.7%.Thrips activity peaked from mid-March to mid-May,and there was no significant difference in population dynamics of thrips among different varieties of Guanxi pomelo plants.Imidacloprid and abamectin and chlorantraniliprole complex applied on trunks had longer control durations than other chemicals, with a corrected control effect of 71.4%and 60.4%after 15 days of the application, respectively. The preventive effects of all five compounding agents on thrips were evident.
