Screening of tea tree resources with resistance to Basilepta melanopus
This study aimed to identify and evaluate the resistance of 57 tea tree germplasm materials to Basilepta melanopus Lefevre and to provide a theoretical reference for the selection of insect-resistant tea cultivars. The resistance of tea tree resources from a wide range of sources was evaluated by measuring the spot and area of B.melanopus damage on tea leaves in the month following the outbreak of B.melanopus population. The study showed that none of the tested materials was immune to this insect pest. However,it was evident that 61-Feng-01,Song'ao 73-01,Zhongyehuang,Baihaozao,and Zhuyeqi were highly resistant to B.melanopus, while Fuda 60,Yuda 3,Kucha 47,and Kucha 3 were medium to highly susceptible tea tree cultivars(lines).Among 57 tea tree germplasm resources, significant differences in resistance to B.melanopus were observed. It is recommended to avoid using germplasm materials with low resistance, such as medium and small leaf species and bitter tea resources.
