Dynamic monitoring of Spodoptera frugiperda occurrence in Dahua County,Guangxi Province and preliminary study on the target pesticide application against the pest
This study aimed to develop an effective control strategy for Spodoptera frugiperda in the Karst area of Guangxi.Field monitoring of the occurrence dynamics of S.frugiperda and the target pesticide application control experiments were carried out in Dahua County,Guangxi. The pheromone attractant monitoring data from 2021 to 2022 showed distinct moth peaks in early April, early to mid-July,and mid to late November each year in this area. The highest number of moths were trapped during mid to late November period, indicating the most severe infestation phase. The targeted application control test conducted in 2022 revealed that the mixed formulation of Bacillus thuringiensis G033A and chlorantran-iliprole·emamectin benzoate granules, when applied locally to infested plants and adjacent plants, achieved a control effect of over 70%.This targeted method showed no significant difference in control effect compared to traditional full-coverage spraying, but significantly reduced pesticide usage, achieving labor-saving and highly efficient control goals. The research findings offer an important scientific foundation and practical guidance for developing effective prevention and control strategies for the fall armyworm in corn in the Karst area of Guangxi.
