Identification of IPEP31001 and its disease-preventive and growth-promoting effects on cucumber
The antagonistic bacterium strain IPEP31001,isolated from cucumber rhizosphere soil, was identified by morphological analysis and 16S rDNA-ITS sequence comparison. The efficy of IPEP31001 in controlling cucumber powdery mildew and promoting growth was evaluated through the pot and field experiment. The strain IPEP31001 was identified as Bacillus amyloliquefaciens. The pot experiment showed that the control effect of IPEP31001 on cucumber powdery mildew was 50.96%~61.97%,while the field experiment revealed a control effect of 76.92%~79.10%.There was no significant difference between the control effects of IPEP31001 and Bacillus subtilis. The plant height, dry and fresh weight, and healthy seedling index of cucumbers were significantly higher than those of water controls. In conclusion,IPEP31001 has been demonstrated to significantly enhance cucumber growth and to exert a clear control effect on cucumber powdery mildew. These findings suggest that IPEP31001 has the potential for field application and further development.
