Detection of potato virus species and their distribution in Enshi,Hubei Province
Potato virus disease is one of the main limiting factors affecting the yield and quality of potato tubers. In this study,305 potato samples with typical symptoms were collected from seven potato production bases in Enshi Prefecture. The DAS-ELISA method was used for the detection and screening of six major viruses(PVX,PVY,PLRV,PVA,PVS,and PVM).The results are presented as follows:(1)PVS,PVM,and PVA were detected in 25.90%,23.61%,and 22.95%of sampes, respectively, and were the main viruses carried by seed potatoes in this area.(2)PVX and PLRV were the most common in low-altitude mountainous areas(altitude ≤700 m),with a detection rate of 19.44%.PVM was the most prevalent in middle-altitude areas(700~1 000 m),with a detection rate of 40.79%.PVS was the most common in high-altitude areas(≥1 000 m),with a detection rate of 31.09%.(3)The majority of seed potatoes were found to carry a single virus or both viruses. The detection rate of PVS was the highest in single virus infections, while the detection rates of PVS+PVA and PVS+PVM were the highest in two-virus infections. The prevalence of three or four viruses was not common.
