Observation on the oviposition rhythm and medium selection behavior of Riptortus pedestris
In recent years,Riptortus pedestris has become an important pest in the main soybean-producing areas of the Huang-Huai-Hai area, causing severe damage and contributing to the prevalence of the"staygreen syndrome"of soybean. This research was conducted under indoor conditions, whereby the oviposition rhythm dynamics and oviposition selectivity to different media were observed and recorded. The results showed that the oviposition mainly occurred between 6d~18d after emergence, with the number of eggs laid during this period representing 43.9%of the total number of eggs laid. The maximum number of eggs laid per day was 188,with the majority of oviposition occurring between 6:00 to 8:00 and 16:00 to 18:00.The R.pedestris adults preferred to oviposit on lines and nets, with oviposition rates of 46.1%and 39.5%,respectively,which were significantly higher than those on leaf tissues and plant branches. The results of the research on the evident oviposition rhythm and oviposition selectivity of R.pedestris adults offer insights for the development of accurate monitoring and green control strategies.
