Stiffness of Ball Bearings Calculated by Inclined Spring Method
An inclined spring calculation method is proposed to address the problem of complex calculation process and questionable correctness of calculation results in traditional calculation methods for stiffness of bearings.Taking angular contact ball bearings as examples, the calculation formulas for stiffness of the bearings are derived for two extreme cases:combined load, high speed operation and only central axial load, medium and low speed operation. The proposed method does not require differentiation or matrix operations throughout entire process, with clear physical meaning, self proving correctness, concise calculation process and high calculation accuracy.Compared with virtual work principle method, stiffness projection method and incremental method of quasi-static model, the results show that the error is smaller compared with virtual work principle method, further proving the correctness of the proposed method;the error is larger compared with stiffness projection method and incremental method of quasi-static model, and the analysis points out that the correctness of calculation results based on false physical basis of both methods is questionable.
