Research Status and Development Trends of Rotary Steerable System
The trajectory control technology is a key component in petroleum drilling engineering.The rotary steer-able system can adjust the wellbore trajectory in real-time according to geological and engineering goals while drill-ing,which can effectively improve the accuracy and efficiency of wellbore trajectory control,motivating drilling tech-digital & automation to a new stage.After nearly 30 years of development,the rotary steerable technology has formed a diversified and functional series of products abroad.Through a brief review and summary of the develop-ment process of the rotary steerable system,especially on the basis of the analysis of the performance characteristics of various commercialized and the comparison of the current technical status,some suggestions are put forward to promote the development of the rotary steerable system in China,so as to correctly understand the current technical status,look forward to the future development trend,choose the right research direction,and provide strong engi-neering and technical support for the safe and efficient development of oil and gas resources in China.
