Revolutionary History and the Shaping of Female Heroes
There are many heroic images in the history of modern and contemporary Chinese literature, including heroes of the masses, national heroes, liberation heroes, and reform heroes. The portrayal of these heroes evolves under the influence of historical contexts. In tumultuous times, the revolutionary battlefield has forged era-defining heroes, where"battlefield"and"hero"often symbolize strength and masculinity.Women have long been assigned feminine traits, and even when part of the heroic narrative, female heroes are often overshadowed in the realm of power and masculinity, serving as mere supporters of their male counterparts. The intrinsic strength of female heroes has not been fully represented.
