Objective This study aims to investigate the status and influencing factors of the quality of life(QoL)of HIV concordant couples. Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 120 HIV concordant couples, including 120 initially confirmed HIV-infected individuals and 120 seroconverted individuals,in Yunnan Province.A self-developed questionnaire and a simple health survey questionnaire(SF-36)were used to investigate the QoL of both spouses. The influencing factors were analyzed and compared with the norm. Results The study revealed that the physical status score(PSS)was 65.61±19.00 and the mental status score(MSS)was 60.70±18.44 for the initially infected individuals;for the seroconverted individuals, the PSS was 72.67±16.85 and the MSS was 67.13±18.89.In terms of physiological function(RP),physical pain(BP),emotional function(RE),mental health(MH),PSS and MSS,the scores of both individuals in HIV concordant couples were lower than the norm, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).Regarding general health(GH),vitality(VT),social functioning(SF),MH,PSS and MSS,the scores of the initially infected individuals were lower than those of the spouses, exhibiting a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).High income of the initially infected individual and the absence of HIV clinical symptoms and complications were protective factors for PSS scores.High income and the availability of civil assistance were protective factors for MSS scores. The youthfulness of the seroconverted individual and the absence of HIV clinical symptoms and complications were protective factors for the PSS scores. The presence of civil assistance and absence of HIV clinical symptoms and complications were protective factors for the MSS scores. Conclusions The scores for HIV concordant couples decreased in multiple fields, and the score of QoL was significantly lower than the norm. The factors that affect the QoL of HIV concordant couples include income, the presence of HIV clinical symptoms and complications, and civil assistance. This study suggests a focus on antiviral treatments and regular follow-ups for HIV concordant couples to control and reduce the occurrence of HIV-related symptoms. At the same time, measures should be taken to expand their income channels and provide civil assistance and other help to improve their QoL.
