Quality of life and its influencing factors in patients with HIV/AIDS and tumors
Objective This study aimed to understand the quality of life and influence factors in patients with HIV/AIDS and tumors,to provide a reference for the development of psychological interventions and relevant health management systems. Methods Convenient sampling was used to select study participants from a pool of patients with HIV/AIDS and tumors, treated in Yunnan Provincial Infectious Disease Hospital, from January 2022 to June 2023.The European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire-C30 was used in this study. Results The scores of role function, physical function, cognitive function, emotional function, general health, and social function were 69.90±30.88,69.26±25.33,65.21±27.72,62.78±30.22,51.38±27.34,and 48.71±12.81,respectively.Role function varied significantly depending on the patient's place of residence, educational level, and monthly income, and the presence of a caregiver(P<0.05).Physical function varied significantly depending on the patient's place of residence, educational level, monthly income,CD4 cell count, and HIV viral load(P<0.05).Cognitive function varied significantly depending on the patient's place of residence, occupation, educational level, and monthly income(P<0.05).Emotional function varied significantly depending on the patient's gender, place of residence, and educational level(P<0.05).General health varied significantly depending on the patient's age, place of residence, educational level, and HIV viral load(P<0.05).Social function varied significantly depending on the patient's place of residence, occupation, educational level, and monthly income, and the presence of a caregiver(P<0.05).Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that patients with caregivers had a better quality of life than those without(t=-2.642,P<0.05).Moreover,patients who graduated from high school had a better quality of life than those who graduated from primary school only(t=2.177,P<0.05).Conclusions The quality of life of patients with HIV/AIDS and tumors is severely reduced, particularly in terms of their general health and social function.Their quality of life is related to the presence of a caregiver and the patient's educational level. It is recommended that hospitals adopt work models, such as case management and psychological care, and actively provide psychological counseling to the patients and their caregivers.
