Progress on the comprehensive treatment of HIV/AIDS patients co-infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis
Co-infection of HIV and Mycobacterium tuberculosis(MTB)is a significant global public health issue.Diagnosing HIV/MTB co-infection is more challenging than diagnosing MTB simplex infection,due to the interaction between the two viruses.Successful treatment requires a combination treatments of anti-HIV and anti-MTB,as well as taking into account drug interactions,adverse reactions,and drug resistance.The success rate of treatment is relatively low.This article provides a comprehensive review of the latest progress on treatment of HIV-MTB co-infection,which covers harm reduction,general treatment,anti-tuberculosis treatment,antiviral treatment,immune therapy,surgical treatment,and other relevant aspects.The aim is to provide a useful reference for the comprehensive treatment of HIV-MTB co-infection.
