Awareness of Chlamydia trachomatis urogenital infection and its associated factors among college students in Shaoxing City
Objective To investigate the awareness of urogenital infections by Chlamydia trachomatis(CT)and its associated factors among college students in Shaoxing City,and to provide a basis for health education surrounding Chlamydia trachomatis.Methods A questionnaire was employed from November 1 to November 30,2022,to determine the level of awareness of CT and sexual behavior among college students in Shaoxing City.Logistic regression was used to determine influencing factors around awareness of CT.Results A total of 43 716 valid questionnaires were collected,and the overall awareness rate of college students in Shaoxing City was 55.14%.Multivariate Logistic regression of factors influencing the awareness rate showed that women(compared to men,OR=1.24,95%CI:1.19-1.29,P<0.001)and students who had sex(compared to students who had no sex,OR=1.20,95%CI:1.12-1.28,P<0.001)were more likely to be aware of CT prevention and treatment knowledge.Students with household registration outside the city in this province(OR=0.85,95%CI:0.81-0.90,P<0.001),students with household registration outside the province(OR=0.66,95%CI:0.62-0.71,P<0.001),and foreign students(OR=0.44,95%CI:0.21-0.92,P=0.03)had a lower probability of awareness for CT prevention and treatment knowledge compared with students who had household registration in this city.Students in grade 3(OR=0.90,95%CI:0.85-0.95,P<0.001)and grade 4 and above(OR=0.80,95%CI:0.74-0.87,P<0.001)were less likely to know about CT prevention and treatment than students in grade 1.Bisexual college students(compared to heterosexual students,OR=0.82,95%CI:0.77-0.87,P<0.001),and college students(compared with undergraduate students,OR-0.64,95%CI:0.62-0.67,P<0.001)had lower odds of awareness for knowledge of CT prevention and treatment.Conclusions The overall awareness rate of urogenital CT infections among college students in Shaoxing is low.Effective measures should be taken to improve the awareness rate and prevent the spread of CT among college students,who are less likely to be aware of the prevention and treatment of CT.
