Objective This study aimed to understand sexual behaviours,AIDS knowledge, and HIV testing among young students in surveyed universities, and vocational and technical schools, across Sichuan,Jiangsu,Guangdong, and Henan provinces.Additionally,it aimed to analyse factors influencing HIV testing. Methods A questionnaire was distributed through online and offline channels, collecting information about students'demographics, sexual behaviours,AIDS knowledge, and other relevant characteristics. Results A total of 63 054 students participated,of whom 82.4%were undergraduates, and 64.5%were freshmen.Among the surveyed,8.6%(5 427/63 054)reported sexual activity, with higher proportions among males compared to females, for engaging in sexual behaviours(12.4%),having unprotected sex(42.7%),and having multiple sexual partners(22.1%).AIDS knowledge awareness rate and HIV testing rates were 78.4%and 6.2%,respectively,for the entire group. These rates increased among sexually active students to 81.7%and 11.5%,respectively.Notably,the HIV testing rate was even higher for those engaging in unprotected sex(13.9%)or having multiple sexual partners(21.1%).Multivariate logistic regression identified province, sex, sexual orientation, number of sexual partners, history of sexually transmitted infections,self-perceived HIV risk, and knowledge of pre-exposure prophylaxis(PrEP)or non-occupational post-exposure prophylaxis(nPEP)(P<0.05)as significant factors influencing HIV testing behaviour among those sexually active. Conclusion While AIDS knowledge awareness was moderate,it suggests continued strengthening of health education.Notably, low HIV testing rates among students engaging in high-risk sexual behaviour highlight the need for targeted promotion of HIV testing,PrEP,and nPEP knowledge for this subpopulation to enhance risk awareness.
