Hepatitis C virus(HCV)infection contributes to a high national disease burden. The avidity of host-produced antibodies to HCV infection steadily increases over time, and the avidity testing could be used to identify acute HCV infection, and to estimate HCV infection morbidity. This article reviews the current research status of the anti-HCV IgG avidity assay in the terms of methodological principles and establishment, influencing factors, and clinical applications, aiming to provide a reference for the standardization of anti-HCV IgG methodology.
