Research progress on disease burden and prevention of mother-to-child transmission of genital herpes
Genital herpes can result in fetal or neonatal herpes simplex virus(HSV)infections through vertical transmission, leading to serious adverse outcomes such as miscarriage, stillbirth, preterm birth, neonatal herpes, and neonatal mortality. The harm and disease burden associated with maternal genital herpes and neonatal herpes are increasingly recognized globally.Due to the high risk of vertical transmission of HSV during late pregnancy, preventing HSV infection in the late stages of pregnancy is crucial for the prevention of neonatal herpes. This article reviews the research progress on the disease burden and prevention of mother-to-child transmission of genital herpes, and provides a reference for the prevention and control of mother-to-child transmission of genital herpes.
