Systematic review of interventions strategies for self-stigma among women living with HIV
Objectives To examine self-stigma intervention strategies for women living with HIV/AIDS(WLWHA),and to provide research-based evidence for developing clinical interventions in relevant healthcare settings. Methods A comprehensive search for studies on self-stigma intervention strategies among WLWHA was conducted across various databases, including PubMed,Cochrane Library,Embase(OVID),ProQuest,Scopus,Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature(CINAHL,EBSCO),China National Knowledge Internet(CNKI),Chinese Biomedical Literature Database,Wanfang Data Knowledge Service Platform,VIP Chinese Journal Service Platform, and China Biology Medicine disc(CBM,SinoMed). The search covered the period from database inception to May 2023.Quality assessments were conducted on literature selected according to inclusion and exclusion criteria, and extracted data was then analyzed using either meta-analysis or descriptive analysis. Results Eight interventional studies with a total of 1 432 participants were included.Interventions strategies for self-stigma among WLWHA were predominantly focused at the individual level.Intervention types included information training, skills training,or a combination of both.Five studies demonstrated significant effects on reducing self-stigma among WLWHA.Conclusions Further researches are needed to solidify the effectiveness of existing strategies in reducing self-stigma among WLWHA.Additionally, developing interventions that address the underlying mechanisms of self-stigma holds significant promise for this population.
