Situation of trust in"U=U"and influencing factors among people living with HIV
Objective To assess the level of trust in"U=U"(Undetectable=Untransmittable)among people living with HIV(PLWH)and analyze the factors influencing their trust. Methods From May to September 2022,HIV-positive individuals receiving antiretroviral therapy in the Luzhou region were selected for this study.A questionnaire was utilized to collect data regarding demographics, sexual behavior,HIV-related knowledge, attitudes, behaviors, and trust in"U=U".Logistic regression models were applied to identify factors influencing trust in"U=U"among participants. Results Of the 296 HIV-positive individuals surveyed,37.8%were aware of the criteria for effective viral suppression, and 94.6%believed they could adhere to medication as prescribed. In the past six months,27.0%of the participants had engaged in sexual activity with a steady partner.A total of 115 individuals(38.9%)expressed trust in"U=U".Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that participants aged 50 years and above(OR=2.653,95%CI:1.225-5.746)and those who were married(OR=2.373,95%CI:1.185-4.751)exhibited higher levels of trust in"U=U"compared to those under 50 and those who were divorced or widowed.Additionally, participants who had never heard of"U=U"demonstrated significantly lower levels of trust(OR=0.244,95%CI:0.129-0.460)compared to those who were aware of it.Conclusions Trust in"U=U"among HIV-positive individuals in the Luzhou region remains relatively low.It is recommended to prioritize promoting"U=U"awareness, particularly among individuals under 50,those who are divorced or widowed, and those who have not previously heard of"U=U",to increase both knowledge and trust in this concept.
