Objective:In order to study the clinical features of the schizophrenia with depressive symptoms. Methods:A comparative study in three groups-93 schizophrenia patients with depressive symptoms, 127 schizophrenics without depressive symptoms and 69 patients of depressive disorder was made. Results:Recurrent times of patients of schizophrenia with depression were much more than those without depression, and their course of il ness is the longest in three groups of patients. Schizophrenic patients with depression have more common manifestations of hopelessness, helplessness and psychomotor inhibition than depression patient, and have more outstanding delusion of sin, hypochondriac delusion, delusion of negation, delusion of poverty than schizophrenic patients without depression. In the schizophrenic patients with depression treated combined TCA with neuroleptics, the therapeutic efficacy appeared early and was bet er than those treated with neuroleptics only. Conclusion:For schizophrenia patients with depressive symptoms, combined antidepressants with neuroleptics in their treatment and some kinds of social support to them are necessary to shorten their therapeutic course.
