Objective:The objective was to investigate obstetric complications, managements and outcomes of pregnancies complicated by moderate to severe thrombocytopenia. Methods:A retrospective case-control study comparing 375 pregnant women with moderate to severe thrombocytopenia (platelet count below 100×109/L) with 375 pregnant women without thrombocytopenia, who delivered between December 2007 to December2013. Rrsults: The main causes of thrombocytopenia were gestational thrombocytopenia, preeclampsia , immune thrombocytopenic purpura, and intrahepatic cholestasis. Moderate to severe maternal thrombocytopenia points to a higher degree of severity of the primary disease, which increases perinatal complications . Special at ention should be given to patients with thrombocytopenia due to preeclampsia, HELLP syndrome, and rarer causes during pregnancy. Conclusions: The management for pregnancies complicated by moderate to severe thrombocytopenia mainly according to gestational weeks and platelet count and primary disease .
