Objective:To study the prevalence of primary and secondary students with poor vision in urban area of Yizhou,and to provide evidence for the prevention and control of student poor eyesight in future. Methods:The field vision testing of the Yizhou city schools students was done in October 2011.We checked uncorrected visual acuity of students’ left and right eye by standard logarithmic visual acuity chart lamphouse, individual y. Result:Investigated a total of 16,202 students, 8,161 students with poor vision were found, accounting for 50.37%, whereas 3,547 students severe poor eyesight were found accounting for 21.89%. The proportions of elementary, middle and high school students with poor eyesight were 23.99%, 52.54%and 68.82%, respectively. The differences among these groups were statistical y significant (x 初2=773.70,P<0.01;x 高2=278.0,P<0.01). The rate of girls with poor vision was higher than that rate of boys (x 2=311.11,P<0.01). Conclusion:The problem of poor eyesight in students is serious. More at ention should be paid to the prevention of poor eyesight in students. Early prevent, early treat.
