Objective:To investigate the changes and its significance of tumor necrosis factor-αin peripheral blood of systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE)and Lupus Nephritis(LN) patients. Methods:The levels of serum tumor necrosis factor-αwere measured by Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, the same as anti-ds-DNA antibody levels were measured by radioimmunoassay in 35 adult SLE patients,21 LN patients and 30 healthy patients. Results:The serum tumor necrosis factor-αlevels were signal y higher in SLE and LN patients than those in healthy controls as wel as in active patients than those in inactive patients. The serum tumor necrosis factor-αlevels positively correlated with SLEDAI in SLE patients, as wel as the tumor necrosis factor-αlevels positively correlated with anti-ds-DNA antibody levels in LN patients. Conclusions:The serum tumor necrosis factor-αlevels in SLE and LN patients were signal y higher than those in normal persons. The serum tumor necrosis factor-αlevels positively correlated with diseases activity in SLE and LN patients. The serum tumor necrosis factor-αlevels correlated with incidence of LN.
