The evaluation of the clinical efficacy of radiotherapy combined with surgical treatment of esophageal cancer
Objective:To evaluate the clinical efficacy of radiotherapy combined with surgical treatment of esophageal cancer. Methods: 80 cases of esophageal cancer patientsseleted for the study in our hospital from January 2010 to June 2013 were randomly divided into two groups, the experimental group and the control group, each of 40 cases. Patients in the control group were given surgery, while patients in the experimental group were treated with radiotherapy surgery. The clinical efficacy were compared between patients in the two groups. Results: The total effective rate of the experimental group patients was 77.5% which had significant increase compared with a total efficiency of 32.5% in the control group .The local control rate and survival rate of patients in the experimental group were significantly beter than the control group. The difference was statisticaly significant (P <0.05). Conclusion: Surgical treatment of esophageal cancer in combination with radiotherapy can significantly improve the clinical treatment efficiency, reduce tumor recurrence and metastasis and improve survival quality of life which is an effective method to treat esophageal cancer which is worthy of promotion in clinic.
