Exploration of Improving Efficiency of Intravenous Drug Preparation Center by Standardized Operating Procedure
Objective:To explore the effect of standardized operating procedures on the efficiency of intravenous drug preparation center. Methods:The study was conducted in the Drug Preparation Center of the First People's Hospital of Baiyin,Gansu Province from January 2023 to June 2024.Standardized operating procedures(SOPs)were developed in detail, and two preparation groups were selected and divided into the control group and the experimental group, with 6 staff in each group. The control group continued to follow the original operating procedures, and the experimental group received the intervention of standardized operating procedures. The preparation time before dispensing, dispensing process time and overall error rate were selected as the main evaluation indexes. Results:The preparation time of the experimental group was shortened by 25%on average, from 10 minutes before intervention to 7.5 minutes. The dosing process time was reduced by 18%,from an average of 25 minutes per bag to 20.5 minutes. The overall error rate dropped from 3.2 percent before the intervention to 1.2 percent, with a 50 percent reduction in serious errors. The above changes were not obvious in the control group. Conclusion:The implementation of standardized operating procedures in the intravenous drug preparation center has a significant positive impact on improving work efficiency and reducing error rate.
