Analysis of the Influence of Standardized Home Oxygen Therapy on Patients with Chronic Respiratory Failure
Objective:To evaluate the effect of standardized home oxygen therapy on patients with chronic respiratory failure.Methods:80 patients with chronic respiratory failure admitted to the First People's Hospital of Baiyin,Gansu Province from June 2020 to June 2023 were selected and divided into the control group and the experimental group, with 40 cases in each group. The control group continued the original non-standardized oxygen therapy management, and the experimental group received standardized home oxygen therapy. Results:After one year of follow-up observation, the mean blood oxygen saturation of the experimental group increased significantly, from 87.5%±2.3%to 92.1%±1.5%(P<0.001),while that of the control group only increased from 87.6%±2.2%to 89.3%±2.1%(P=0.04).The quality of life scores of patients in the experimental group also improved significantly(P<0.001),while the change in the control group was not significant(P=0.08).In addition, patients in the experimental group had 40 percent fewer hospitalizations for respiratory failure-related symptoms, compared with only 10 percent fewer hospitalizations in the control group(P<0.001).Conclusion:The standardized home oxygen therapy program can effectively improve the blood oxygen saturation of patients with chronic respiratory failure, improve their quality of life, and reduce the frequency of hospitalization due to the aggravation of the disease, which is worthy of popularization and application.
