Effect of Standardized Respiratory Training on Quality of Life in Patients with COPD
Objective:To evaluate the effectiveness of standardized respiratory training programs in improving quality of life in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).Methods:150 researchers with moderate to severe COPD were included in the randomized controlled trial design from January 2022 to May 2024 in the First People's Hospital of Baiyin,Gansu Province and randomly assigned to the control group and the experimental group, with 75 cases in each group. The control group received usual care, and the experimental group received a 12-week standardized breathing training program that included diaphragmatic breathing, lip closure breathing, and lung expansion exercises.Patients'quality of life at baseline and after intervention was assessed using the St.George's Respiratory Questionnaire(SGRQ),and changes in dyspnea and pulmonary function indicators were recorded. All measurements were taken before and immediately after the intervention. Results:The experimental group showed a significant improvement in the total SGRQ score(P<0.001),while the control group showed only a slight change(P=0.06).The mMRC score decreased in the experimental group(P<0.001)and changed little in the control group(P=0.08).In addition, the FEV1/FVC ratio in the experimental group was increased by 3.5%(P<0.001),while there was no significant change in the control group(P=0.76).Conclusion:The standardized breathing training program can significantly improve the quality of life of COPD patients, reduce the degree of dyspnea, and improve exercise endurance and lung function, which is worthy of popularization and application.
