Research progress in rapid detection of food-borne Listeria monocytogenes
Bacterial contamination is one of the major problems that is considered a serious health risk factor for food safety and human health.Listeria monocytogenes(LM)is a zoonotic pathogen that can cause a variety of clinical syndromes such as reason sepsis, meningitis, and monocytosis and is widely distributed in nature.Specifically,it can grow and reproduce at low temperatures, threatening the human health of raw foods.Conventional methods of LM detection are time-consuming and cannot meet the requirements for on-site detection. Therefore, there has been an increase in demand for the development of fast, accurate, efficient, and reliable detection methods for LM in recent years.Recent rapid detection methods have been developed based on immunology, molecular biology, biosensors, and bacteriophages.Herein,we summarize the principles, characteristics, and application of various rapid detection technologies for LM,and the advantages and disadvantages of these technologies were fully discussed.Hopefully, the review can provide a reference and offer a blueprint for the research and development of new technologies for detecting LM.
