Study on flow measurement of supercritical carbon dioxide
Near the critical points,a slight disturbance in operating temperature or pressure will cause great changes in the density of supercritical fluids. Therefore, there are no real-time,accurate and traceable supercritical fluid flow measurement methods and instruments. In this paper, the physical characteristics of supercritical carbon dioxide in the quasi-critical temperature region are analyzed. Then the measurement features of Coriolis mass flowmeter and differential flowmeter in supercritical fluid are studied respectively, and the working conditions for measurement are determined. Finally,a new flowmeter combination method is proposed which correct the dynamic density of differential flowmeter with Coriolis mass flowmeter to improve the measurement accuracy of supercritical fluid. In the verification experiment, the above two flowmeters were calibrated with the standard facilities for liquid flowrate, and the evaluation of the dynamic response ability and the error between the two measured media were conducted with the gravimetric method gas flow standard device in terms of the Reynolds number approximation principle. The results show that this flowmeter combination method has the ability to measure supercritical carbon dioxide fluids and realizes traceability with Coriolis mass flowmeter as the master meter.
