Effect of combined orthodontic and periodontal treatment in periodontitis with malocclusion
Objective To observe the effect of combined orthodontic and periodontal treatment on patients with periodontitis with malocclusion,in order to provide reference for the development of clinical treatment plans. Methods A total of 78 patients with periodontitis with malocclusion admitted to Yantai City Laiyang Central Hospital from April 2020 to April 2022 were selected as the study subjects. They were divided into control group and observation group, with 39 cases in each group, based on different treatment methods. The control group only received orthodontic treatment, while the observation group received combined orthodontic and periodontal treatment. The clinical treatment effect, periodontal index and tooth mobility degree before and after treatment between two groups of patients were compared. Results The total effective rate of treatment in the observation group was 97.44%,which was significantly higher than 79.49%in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(x2=4.522,P<0.05).After treatment, the PLI,PD and SBI of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The tooth mobility degree of the observation group was significantly better than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Patients with peridontitis with malocclusion who undergo orthodontic and periodontal combined treatment could reduce periodontitis periodontal index, make teeth stronger and improve clinical treatment effectiveness, which was worthy of clinical promotion and application.
