The impact of nursing quality and safety management on complications of intravenous therapy
Objective To analyze the role of nursing quality and safety management in preventing and controlling complications related to intravenous therapy. Methods A total of 70 patients received intravenous therapy in Tianjin Xincheng Hospital from January to December 2021 were selected as the control group, and 70 patients from January to December 2022 were selected as the observation group. The control group received routine nursing, while the observation group received nursing quality and safety management. The incidence of complication, nursing quality score and nursing satisfaction rate between the two groups were compared. Results The incidence of complications in the observation group was 1.43%,which was lower than 11.43%in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(x2=5.818,P<0.05).The nursing quality scores of environmental management, drug preparation, information verification, equipment and item management and puncture technique in observation group were higher than those in control group, and the differences were statistical significance(P<0.05).The nursing satisfaction rate in the observation group was 97.14%,which was higher than 87.14%in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(x2=4.834,P<0.05).Conclusion Intravenous therapy was widely used in clinical practice, and there were risks of complications such as phlebitis and drug fluid extravasation in the treatment process, which were not conducive to patient safety.Through the implementation of nursing quality and safety management, the risk of potential complications could be reduced, improve the overall nursing quality and the nursing satisfaction rate, which was worthy of clinical promotion and application.
