Study on effect of insulin in the treatment of elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus
Objective To explore the effect of insulin in the treatment of elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, and to provide help for the clinical treatment of elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods From March 2021 to August 2022,50 elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus who were admitted to Tianjin Baodi District People's Hospital were selected. All patients were given subcutaneous injection of insulin and were given oral medication at discharge. The fasting blood glucose and 2-hour postprandial blood glucose levels before and after treatment were compared, and glycated hemoglobin levels were rechecked 3 months after treatment. Results After treatment, the fasting blood glucose and 2-hour postprandial blood glucose were(5.56±1.22)and(8.42±2.11)mmol/L,which were lower than before treatment with(14.20±2.12)and(19.21±2.34)mmol/L.After 3 months, the glycated hemoglobin level was(5.42±1.17)%,which was lower than before treatment with(10.34±1.26)%,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion After insulin treatment, the blood sugar level of elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus could remain relatively stable, and the glycosylated hemoglobin could also be significantly improved, which had a high clinical application value.
